Regenerative Injection Therapy

A Brief Overview

Regenerative Injections are natural and clinically proven alternatives to Cortisone and surgery for:

  • Joint pain from an old injury that never completely healed
  • Joint pain due to osteoarthritis

Blood carries healing factors all throughout the body to help it regenerate. Unfortunately, joints are slow to heal because of a lack of blood flow to them.

Regenerative Injections create micro-traumas in targeted pain points. These injections stimulate fresh blood flow right where we want it, drawing in the body’s healing factors like a magnet.

These healing cells begin to repair the pain points and deposit new collagen in the areas we have targeted. Over time, the body uses this collagen to repair damaged ligaments, tendons, and cartilage.

Prolotherapy Vs. Platelet-Rich Plasma

Dr. Hudson offers two regenerative injection treatment options: Prolotherapy and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Both of these treatments stimulate the body to heal itself, but they do it in different ways and to varying degrees. Our chart below highlights the differences.

Prolotherapy

uses a dextrose solution

  • Healing Factors Drawn to the Area 75% 75%
  • Healing Factors Injected into the Area 0% 0%
  • Speed of Recovery 25% 25%

Prolotherapy is used to treat mild to moderate pain points over an extended period of time. Inside the syringe is a solution of dextrose, saline, and lidocaine. 12 or more treatments may be necessary over 4 – 6 week intervals, for optimal results.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

uses the body’s own healing factors

  • Healing Factors Drawn to the Area 75% 75%
  • Healing Factors Injected into the Area 100% 100%
  • Speed of Recovery 85% 85%

PRP is used to treat mild to moderately severe pain points rapidly. Inside the syringe is a solution of Platelet-Rich Plasma extracted from your own blood. 3 – 4 treatments over 4 – 6 week intervals, may be necessary for optimal results.

Treating the root cause

“I believe in treating the root cause, rather than handing out pain meds and Cortisone shots or sending you out for an unnecessary surgery. People suffering from joint pain turn to me because the treatments I offer repair and restore the underlying issue.

Are Regenerative Injections Effective?

The answer to this is based on two things (1) your personal health status (2) your adherence to the treatment recommendations. Based on my clinical experience, Regenerative Injections are about 80-90% effective at eliminating pain. Those who take a proactive approach to their health can expect to have the best return on investment.

How Much do Regenerative Injections Cost?

There are 3 main factors that affect the overall cost of Regenerative Injection Therapy at our clinic.

Type of therapy

Prolotherapy is quick to prepare and administer. PRP requires more supplies and significantly more time and effort to produce.

Treatment area

Larger areas require more injections. Also, with PRP, the larger the area, the more preparation needed.

Number of treatments

During the initial consultation, Dr. Hudson will give you his best estimate. This estimate may change depending on your response to the first treatment.
